Argentina - part one - première partie

LE FRANÇAIS SUIT L’ANGLAIS

Argentina
July 12th to Aug 17th 2011
380km in the country, 8 319km for the whole trip.

Short version:
Quebrada de Humahuaca
We entered Argentina by Yacuibe which was not a good choice as we missed the beautiful road  #9 with the stunning colors of the Quebrada de Humahuaca (world heritage). So we decided to rent a car in Salta for a 4 day trip through the Quebrada. We reached Casabindo where we attended the celebration of the Virgin of the Asuncion with the Toreo de la vincha.
What a great trip!
We had a month rest in Salta to enjoy the culture, the gastronomy and the Argentinean savoir- faire of life by drinking maté and dancing the Tango!
Now we’re ready to ride our bikes to reach the south (Mendoza) and Chile (Valparaiso).

North of Argentina has a strong Andes and Inca heritage.
North of Argentina is the land of the gauchos of Salta.
North of Argentina is the land of the Puna (altiplano), Yungas (rainforest) and Quebradas (valleys).
North of Argentina is coca leaves and maté.
North of Argentina has parrillas and high altitud wine.
